Last Wednesday we had the opportunity to go to the State Fair of Texas. We love going to the fair. It seems to have become a yearly tradition. Noah took the day off of work so we could go. The weather was perfect! Here are some of the highlights from the day.
Usually we go to the petting zoo first but a huge school group got there right before us so we went to do the Little hands on the Farm first. The kids get to pretend that they are farm workers. This year Sadie really loved it because she remembered it from last year and wasn't scared to do it. First they get their little aprons on and their baskets.
Next they go and water the peach trees and put a peach in their basket.
Then they give a litte corn feed to the chickens and pick up an egg.
They also feed some sheep and some cows and see how you milk a cow.
Then they get to plant some seeds in the garden and pick out a vegetable.
While you wait to go from building to building there are a few photo opps.
Then they ride a little tractor to feed the cows in the field. Sadie of course had to pet the pretend cow and tell me that it was just pretend.

After the farm we made it over to the petting zoo. This is Sadie's favorite part. She pretty much ignores all of the animals except for the goats. She had a lot of fun petting them and feeding them. At least this year she didn't try to kiss them.
For awhile she fed them out of the cup, but eventually she just moved onto using her hands.
She would pour the feed into her hands and then just shove it into their face. I guess she thought that was how you did it. It was funny.
Next we went and saw Boris the giant pig.
He is pretty big.
Then we headed over to see all of the horses. One of the owners actually opened one of the stalls so that Sadie could touch the horse. She thought that was pretty cool. Noah sat her on one of the saddles that was by the stalls.
After wandering through one of the buildings we stopped to eat lunch. We found a nice shady spot to eat.
All three of us had our Fletcher's corn dogs. Yum! 
This is the sculpture that is made out of butter. Every year there is a different one.
On our way to the Carousel we walked by the water fountains. Sadie had fun putting her hand prints everywhere.
This was the first year that Sadie wasn't scared to ride the carousel. She loved it. We had a wonderful day at the Fair and can't wait to go next year! 
That sounded like so much fun! Our kids would have loved that--however, four kids is too much to take to the fair at this age, so we'll have to wait til they are older :) Glad you had fun!!!
